The Revenue Department has obtained hallmark achievements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during last one year despite the hazardous impacts of Covid epidemic all over the country that has greatly contributed in providing maximum facilities to the masses and increasing revenues of the province. It includes modernization of the annoying and outdated Patwar Culture, tax reduction and reforms, use of IT and other latest technologies as well as realistic amendments in the Land Acquisition Rules especially in the newly merged areas of the province.

It was revealed in the introductory meeting of the Standing Committee on Revenue Department of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly that was held at Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday.

MPA Khalid Khan chaired the meeting while the it was attended by MPAs Pakhtunyar khan, Faisal Zeb, Sumaia Bibi, Ajmal Khan, Nazir Ahmad Abbasi, Ranjeet Singh, Naeema Kishwar, Asiya Saleh Khattak, Shagufta Malik, Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) and other high ups of the Revenue department besides officials of the KP Assembly Secretariat. 

The participants of the meeting however eulogised such a performance terming it marvelous. They expressed satisfaction over the progress so far made by the revenue department as well as replies of SMBR on the questions filed by a number of MPAs in this regard.

SMBR Syed Zafar Ali Shah told the committee that the drastic changes and reforms of provincial government tantamounted to reducing the taxes from four to one only and its rate lowered from 6.5% to only 2% that was taken as big relief by the public and thus 80% revenue targets also achieved during last about six months. “The appointment of Patwaris through ETEA, allocation of 10% Patwaris quota for ladies and establishment of Revenue Academy for training them on scientific lines also brought about pleasant changes in the Board of Revenue (BoR) to make it people friendly”, he added. Similarly land acquisition reforms enabled the department to help in prompt land acquisition for mega projects like Dassu, Bhasha, Mohmand dams, CPEC city and other projects thus saving billions of dollars and precious time to launch these vital development schemes earlier besides vacating precious state lands from illegal occupation of the Mafias, he concluded. On this occasion the participants were also briefed on various functions of the revenue department and Board of Revenue. 

The chair asked the committee members for extending all out support to the revenue department side by side with their vibrant role of legislation for the public welfare in the province.
