SETTLEMENT & RE-SETTLEMENT
The preparation of Record of Rights and revenue assessment is carried out under two major categories. Where there is no previous settlement, the operation is termed as original settlement i.e. Settlement Jadeed (جدید بندوبست), and if for an estate or sub-division Record of Rights has already been prepared, the settlement operation is called Re-Settlement (ترمیمی بندوبست). The re-settlement operation is carried out periodically for updating land records and assessment of land revenue.
Different section of West Pakistan Land Revenue Act 1967 like Section 40, Section 59 and Section 116 etc empower provincial government and Board of Revenue to carry out settlement of an estate / sub-division might generally be carried out after 25 years in routine.
